We Do Not Use Keywords Anymore!

We know, this was what it was all about YEARS AGO!

Google does not use keywords in order to determine search engine rankings. It was September 2009 that Google officially announced ”Google does not use the keywords meta tag in web ranking“.

Matt Cutts explains it in a video: (Matt Cutts works for the Search Quality group in Google, specializing in search engine optimization issues)

The other search engines such as Yahoo and Bing also do not use keywrods anymore!. Although this is not entirely true. But using keywords won’t help you at all.

Bing, in a guide about how to optimize your page said…

“It was abused far too much and lost most of its cachet. But there’s no need to ignore the tag. Take advantage of all legitimate opportunities to score keyword credit, even when the payoff is relatively low.”

Bing therefor does  encourage you to do fill it out, even though the “benefit” will be virtually non existant. We here at LegalTelligence don’t do it at all. It is almost a waste of time.  Instead we encourage our clients to think about which keywords to put into a well written page, or blog post.  It’s worth it.
